The Cycplus AS2 Ultra is an update to it’s previous version, Cycplus AS2 Pro.
It is the smallest version ever!
But lets dive in, and see what are the improvement from the previous version and if it is still worth carrying it on your next ride!?
Design and Portability
It got even smaller!
87 grams instead of 117 grams!
Magnesium body: a step up from aluminum, giving the pump greater strength and performance.
Premium finish: its sleek design and lightweight feel give it a refined, professional touch.
As previous version it includes a silicone cover to protect it from heat and water, but remember it is not waterproof!
It is so small and light that you don’t feel that you are carrying it in your packet or saddlebag, it is a great advantage even if you live in mountains and climb a lot, it won’t make a difference.
Performance
The AS2 Ultra features a 400mAh battery, capable of inflating two 700×32 tires up to 100 psi on a single charge. The Pro Max version, with a 600 mAh battery, can inflate up to four tires. Both models support pressures up to 120 psi, suitable for various tire types including road bikes, mountain bikes, and even some sports equipment.
Usability
Similar to its previous version, it features a high-contrast LCD screen that displays real-time air pressure and battery status, while also allowing easy pressure adjustments. The user interface is simple, with three buttons for power and pressure control, making it straightforward to use even for those new to electronic inflators. An automatic shut-off function stops the pump once the desired pressure is reached, preventing over-inflation.
Accessories and Compatibility
Similar to the previous version, the pump comes with adapters for both Presta and Schrader valves, a ball needle adapter, and an extension hose. The extension hose is especially useful for positioning the pump and also provides thermal insulation to protect against heat during use. This versatility makes the pump suitable for a wide range of bikes and inflatables.
Battery Life and Charging
The Cycplus AS2 Ultra charges via a USB-C port and can be fully charged in just about 25 minutes! As shown in the chart above, a single charge is usually enough to inflate about two tires, regardless of type.
Downsides
Some users have noted that the pump is quite loud during operation. The cost is also relatively high compared to traditional floor pumps, but for many cyclists, the convenience and portability at $119 may justify the price.
