Wahoo RGT is an indoor cycling app. Wahoo system is a training platform for cyclists that offers personalized workouts paired with video-based cycling content pro rides and on-location video content. RGT means road grand tours which is a virtual cycling platform with virtual routes that are based on real-world locations. Wahoo RGT claims to have the best cycling physics of any cycling app out there. Rather than riding in a virtual world, one can take on popular climbs and experience simulations of real places. Wahoo RGT provides many services like if you are using a brainy trainer, Wahoo RGT can wirelessly control your trainer to stimulate the changing gradient of a particular road.

Wahoo RGT users also customize their avatar with a range of different bikes and kits available. If you have a specific route that you want to recreate, you can simply upload it and they will create what’s called a magic road that is based on the GPS data that you uploaded. once the route is created, you can ride it yourself or schedule events, or even host races on that route. RGT supports windows, mac, apple tv, and iPad. RGT in the past required you to use your phone as a remote app because the desktop app worked only as a player. However, after a recent update, you no longer do that, and their app works on its own and you are not required to use your phone anymore. One can still use their phone as a companion app or remote control if they would like.

Why should you use Wahoo RGT

Wahoo RGT is the best indoor training app for entertaining sessions and very well-tailored training zones, complete training plan with strength. The Wahoo RGT app works on Windows computers, iPhones, iPad, or Macs. It’s compatible with ANT+ and Bluetooth devices. An optional remote mobile app allows you to adjust the main app if the main device like Mac or Pc isn’t nearby. Most Wahoo RGT functions are accessed via the mobile app including group rides, training management, and connectivity to strava and training peaks. Some people are wondering which indoor training solution is best for them to use Wahoo RGT, in these cases a smart trainer is the best bet rather than a dumb turbo trainer for them. One can also add a speed sensor and the app can work out virtual power based on their turbo trainer tire and wheel size. For greater accuracy, one can invest in a power meter or smart turbo trainer. The latter option means that resistance can be increased by the app.

Wahoo RGT vs. Zwift

Wahoo RGT and Zwift both have built a community of racing in recent years. But Wahoo RGT is more popular than Zwift for many reasons. The differing physics of RGT gives it a much punchier and more realistic ride feel, especially on tight crit courses. Whereas Zwift allows you to maintain a steady effort for the entirety of the course. Racing on Wahoo RGT is more realistic than Zwift for its game physics. Whereas Zwift allows you to ride full gas through every corner, RGT will apply the brakes and ignore your pedaling input as your avatar approaches a sharp corner and only allows you to accelerate after they have gone through the apex. After all, a basic subscription to Wahoo RGT is free but there’s no free option on Zwift after a seven-day initial trial period. Also, Wahoo X offers a free 14-day trial.

I understand why you compared RGT against Zwift, probably because it is the most used app, but it would be interesting more to compare it with for example Rouvy which has a great library of real-world routes, or Fulgaz. Anyway I am quite sad RGT is being shut down, the app had its uniqueness that will be missed by many.
